When your child makes new friends, you shouldn’t have to guess who their parents are. Igbo lets you connect directly with the parents of those your child is with - no phone numbers, no guesswork, just instant peace of mind. Join a community of parents who believe in safer, more connected parenting.
New friends, new places, and evolving social circles -today’s teens build connections faster than ever, often starting online before meeting in person. But as a parent, there’s no directory to find other parents when you need to check in or ensure your child’s safety.
Social media makes it easy for kids to connect, but it often leaves parents in the dark when contact lists and social groups change overnight. One day, your teen is hanging out with the same familiar faces, then suddenly there’s a new group in the mix. You don’t know their parents, you don’t have their numbers, and there’s no easy way to reach them if you need to. What’s your next move?
Igbo bridges this gap, giving parents a direct, reliable way to connect, so whether it’s a casual check-in or an urgent situation, you always have the reassurance of reaching the right person when it matters most.
But this only works if we build it together. Be the village and make parent-to-parent connection the new normal.
This Spring Break, Igbo is working with SEASIDE® to enhance parent-to-parent communication when kids are out exploring on their own.
With families from all over the country gathering in SEASIDE®, kids are constantly meeting new friends, making plans on the fly, and exploring on their own -making it harder for parents to stay in the loop. There’s no easy way to reach another parent when you need to check in, co-ordinate plans, or respond to the unexpected.
As Spring Break brings families together in SEASIDE®, Igbo offers a modern way for parents to build a trusted network, ensuring that all kids stay safe while enjoying their time in the community.
SEASIDE® invites families to join Igbo and be part of a community that prioritizes real communication and shared responsibility.
More than just a map - Igbo gives parents the information they need to stay informed and empowered, ensuring peace of mind without intruding on their teen’s independence.
See who’s nearby - Igbo’s proximity tool shows a pin when your child is near another in-app child within 50 yards.
No FOMO - Kids can’t see other kid locations on the map. And when in-app kids are no longer immediately with your child, they disappear from your map.
Safeguarded Child Identities - You’ll never see the names of kids on the map, but you can message their parents when you tap on their pin.
Igbo lets parents securely chat to the parents of those your kids are hanging out with, without cramping the kids style!
Direct messaging - Message one-on-one or start a group chat with parents of those in close proximity to your kids.
Familiar Faces - Exchange friend requests with trusted parents and swap pins for avatars, making it easier to recognize known families.
Private and secure - A secure way to connect with other parents, without exchanging phone numbers and without kids seeing or being part of the conversation.
A dedicated space for parents to connect, share insights, and collaborate - because keeping our kids safe takes a village.
Community-powered safety - Exchange advice, local updates, parenting tips and helpful resources to navigate parenthood with confidence.
Real-time discussions - Stay in the loop with important updates from local authorities, clubs, and other trusted partners.
Private & parent-only - A secure space exclusively for verified parents to connect, ensuring discussions remain relevant, helpful, and free from outside noise.
We know safety is your top priority. Here are the answers to the most common questions about how Igbo keeps families connected.
No, Igbo uses GPS location discovery, meaning parent users only see other in-app user “pins” of kids when those kids are within 50 yards of your own. Once separated beyond 50 yards, a parent cannot see the location of other in-app using kids.
No, only parents can see the location of other in-app using kids (and again, only when those kids are within 50 yards of their own.)
Kids in your own family can see parent and sibling location, if selected in the Igbo Settings
Other parent app users see your name as associated with your child’s pin and can direct message you.
If you decide mutually to “friend” each other, the pins on the map convert to private avatars when your kids are together. Meaning, when that child intersects with yours in future interactions, his/her avatar will appear in place of the pin, giving you visual notification that you are “friended” with the parent of that child.
Igbo can identify a phone’s location if the phone is connected to WiFi. However, if there is no Wifi or cell service, the GPS reporting will not work.
However, Igbo reports the quality of each family member’s cell signal on the map page, so you will know if service is an issue.
You will receive an alert on your Family dashboard on the map homepage that indicates location services have been turned off.
